Aloha! The school seems to have a truly special atmosphere, where the staff's dedication goes beyond just their responsibilities—they genuinely care about the students' well-being and growth. Dorm parents and staff acting as a second family provide a nurturing environment, helping students like my daughter become independent, happy, and disciplined even when far from home. The friendships my daughter has formed and her fondness for the school's dog indy add to the warmth and homeliness of the place. The school's ability to create such a supportive and familial environment is truly commendable, and it's clear that this has made a significant positive impact on my daughter and many other students. It must be incredibly reassuring to know that my daughter is in such a caring and supportive environment, making her transition to a new place much smoother and more enjoyable.

I was at 'Iolani from Kindergarten to Senior year, and recently graduated this past June. Having attended 'Iolani for 13 years is truly a blessing. To be quite simple, 'Iolani is not the easiest school. The academic workload is definitely rigorous, and overwhelming at times, but without pressure no diamonds can be made. The rigor of 'Iolani has trained me (and countless others) in self-discipline, shaped a strong work ethic for myself, and has given me a community of support ranging from teachers to classmates that push me to excellence. This is true beyond the classroom as well, especially on the 'Iolani Surf Team. Students from all different grades, skill levels, and life paths come together and bond over their shared passion for surfing as they compete. From the coaches to the surfers themselves, there is a strong sense of community and everyone pushes each other to keep getting better. Plus, it's fun to surf with buddies!

On my first day at ‘Iolani, I was nervous because I’d heard of its challenging curriculum and the high achievements of its students. I thought that would make it a competitive environment, but everyone (students and faculty) turned out to be very supportive, and I found friends quickly. My one suggestion: on Club Day, sign up for any club that piques your interest. Don’t be shy — I joined seven clubs my first year. While some didn’t pan out, in the others, I met some of my favorite people. Go One Team!
